Tom Weakland, a Senior Partner with Diamond, leads the firm’s Healthcare practice and is the Managing Partner of Diamond’s Global Sourcing practice. Tom counsels senior business and IT executives in developing and implementing business-aligned IT strategies that are focused on operational excellent and business efficiency.

As a Partner with Diamond, Tom has over 20 years of experience in helping organizations develop, manage, and extract significant benefits from technology. Tom is considered a leading authority on IT strategy and strategic sourcing, and has been widely quoted in many publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Computer World, CNET News, The San Francisco Chronicle, Reuters and the Houston Chronicle. Tom is also a frequent speaker on these topics and has been featured at many conferences and events. However, Tom spends the majority of his time engaging C-Level executives in discussing and reviewing their sourcing strategies.

Tom’s recent client experience includes working for a large health insurance organization, where he was the lead Partner responsible for the development of an architecture and systems strategy to consolidate the number, and reduce the complexity, of its membership and claims processing platforms. For a large US health insurance company, Tom was responsible for developing a comprehensive sourcing strategy for the firms IT organization. While working for a Wall Street Investment bank, Tom was responsible for developing a strategic sourcing strategy for the firms IT group. In addition, Tom helped a global manufacturer, where he managed an effort to review the performance and contract of a major outsourcing agreement. After the initial review, the team defined required improvements and determined the potential economic benefits and costs of the recommended improvements. Improvements were related to decreases in yield loss, improving customer satisfaction, increasing on-time, on-budget delivery of projects and creation of accountability.
